Your relatives can live, study and work in Canada if they become permanent residents of Canada. You can sponsor certain relatives to come to Canada if you’re at least 18 years old and you are a Canadian citizen or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or a permanent resident of Canada. Sponsor Spouse, Partner or Child
If you’re eligible, you can sponsor your spouse, partner or dependent children to become permanent residents of Canada. To qualify to do so, you must be able to: support them financially make sure they don’t need social assistance from the government
Sponsor Parents or Grandparents
For the present If you submitted interest to sponsor form in 2020 and were invited to apply to the 2022 intake, you were able to sponsor your parents and grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada. Between October 12 and 20, 2022, we invited potential sponsors to apply. The deadline to apply has now passed.
Sponsor Your Relatives
You may be able to sponsor certain relatives to immigrate to Canada under the Family Class if you’re at least 18 years old and a Canadian citizen or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or permanent resident of Canada. If you sponsor a relative to come to Canada as a permanent resident, you must support your relative financially when they arrive; be able to meet basic needs for yourself and your relative, such as: food, shelter and clothing; make sure your relative doesn’t need social assistance.

To qualify under this category applicants must meet the following criteria.
You must have the required language levels needed for your job for each language ability
- writing
- reading
- listening
- speaking
Applicants must have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last 3 years before they apply. This requirement can be met in a few different ways:
- full-time at 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full-time (1,560 hours)
- equal amount in part-time work: for example 15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
- You can work as many part-time jobs as you need to meet this requirement.
- full-time work at more than 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
- have gained your work experience by working in Canada while under temporary resident status with authorization to work
